(WXYZ) — The 7 First Alert weather team is tracking another weekend storm. However, forecast models are indicating more snow than rain this time around.
Snow will begin around midnight Friday and continue through Saturday morning. Temperatures will rise enough to change the snow to rain by Saturday afternoon. This will likely melt some of the fresh snow and make for a slushy mess on area roads. As temperatures tumble again Saturday evening, rain will eventually change back into snow Sunday morning. Below freezing temperatures Saturday night will allow the slush to freeze as more snow falls into Sunday morning.
At this time, snowfall amounts late Friday night into Saturday morning could range from 5"-7" north of I-94 with 3"-6" possible south of Detroit. The main concerns with this winter storm will be snow impacting roads Saturday followed by slick, icy conditions Sunday morning with below freezing temperatures.
We'll continue to update you on snowfall amounts and timing as the storm approaches this weekend.
