Inching closer to 60 degrees this week in metro Detroit

A warm-up is underway, and temperatures should be in the 50s for the next few days; something we've only managed to do twice so far this month.

Last week was chilly, so although the warm-up will feel nice, we still won't be anywhere near records. In fact, we'll probably be just slightly above average. Record highs are 78°to 82°, and average highs are in the low 50s.

Along with the warmer air comes the rain; which should arrive overnight and last through the day Tuesday. The heaviest of the rain will likely be Tuesday morning; followed by off-and-on showers in the afternoon and potentially steadier rain in the evening. Rain totals could range from 1/4" to 3/4".

Some showers are still possible early Wednesday, but if we get some breaks in the clouds Wednesday afternoon, that may be the best shot at temperatures soaring into the upper 50s.

OPENING DAY: First pitch is at 1:10 p.m. Thursday. Showers are possible in the afternoon with temperatures in the low 50s. We'll keep you updated if anything changes.
