As storm cleanup continues, the National Weather Service is confirming that the damage was in fact caused by a tornado.
It is the first tornado to hit Michigan in December ever.
Wednesday night, Canton police asked people to stay away from the area of Lilley Road and Joy Road as they dealt with weather damage.
Civil Air Patrol crews gathered at Mettetal Airport where they helped clear the runway of small bits of debris that could damage an aircraft.
Officials say at least three buildings have been damaged, along with several other structures and some vehicles.
The damage was discovered just after 6:45 p.m. because of an alarm from a business in the area.
There were no reported injuries.
Lilley Road was closed for several hours while the damage was cleaned up.
