DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — For the Mourtos family, Rex’s Golden Grill is more than just a restaurant. It’s a place where they can connect with their customers, who are more like family to them.
“I worry about all of our customers, our families, everybody,” said John Mourtos.
It was back in 1979 that John’s father opened Rex’s Golden Grill on Telegraph in Dearborn. In 2000, the restaurant was sold, only for the Mourtos family to buy it back six years ago.

“We grew up in the Dearborn area so a lot of our customers are either family or good friends of ours,” said John.
Curbside pickup and free delivery is an option during the executive order banning dining in. Rex’s Golden Grill is also on DoorDash.
They offer a variety of food, including their popular fish and chips among other homemade items.
“A lot of the stuff that we do is in house anyways, so from soups to rice puddings to gravies, a lot of home made things,” said John.
They have some new deals in place, along with preexisting discounts.
“We just started for all first responders, we are giving them all 20 percent off. We still offer our senior discount and a few other specials that we run normally,” said Mourtos.
Hours have been adjusted during this time. They are now open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. People can place orders over the phone by calling (313) 565-7066.
